Privacy Policy

The Legacy Dad is operated by Hu Technologies, LLC, a Montana limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We never sell your personal information and we never share it with insurance companies.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time link.
- Your intake answers: age, family (partner, children's ages), state, occupation type, approximate income, debts and savings, what coverage and will you already have, and what has stopped you so far.
- Your plan and progress: the tasks in your plan and which ones you have completed.
- Your Legacy Vault map: descriptions of where your documents are and who to contact. We do not store the documents themselves.
- Guide questions: if you use the AI Legacy Guide, the questions you type and the answers.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment, not your card number.
- Usage analytics (if enabled): pages visited and buttons used, so we can see where people get stuck. We do not send your answers, income or vault entries to analytics.
- Call bookings: calls are booked through Cal.com, which collects your name and email to schedule the call. Your Shield Check answers stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
- Your settings: your first name, your guide's name, your pace, your family goals and the status of your guide's reminders.
What we don't collect
We do not ask for Social Security numbers, policy or account numbers, passwords, or uploaded documents. A family photo you add to your Command Center stays in your own browser and is never sent to us. We do not currently collect health information.
How we use it
- To build and show your personal Legacy Plan, tools and reminders.
- To answer your questions in the Legacy Guide.
- To process payments and provide customer support.
- To improve the product, using aggregate usage data.
Who processes data for us
We use service providers that process data on our behalf, under contract, only to run the service:
- Supabase (database and sign-in)
- Vercel (website hosting)
- Stripe (payments)
- Anthropic (AI Legacy Guide answers, when enabled)
- PostHog (product analytics, when enabled)
- Cal.com (scheduling)
- LinkedIn (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company and LinkedIn Corporation): advertising and analytics, when enabled
We may disclose information if required by law. We do not share your information with insurers, brokers, or will providers.
Advertising measurement (LinkedIn)
On our public pages, we may use the LinkedIn Insight Tag, a cookie and pixel from LinkedIn, to measure how our ads perform. It receives the pages you view on our public site and when you click a button to request a call. It never receives your answers to the fit questions, your income, or anything from your plan or vault.
Some state laws treat this as "sharing" personal information for advertising. To opt out, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link at the bottom of any page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. Either way, the LinkedIn tag won't load on that device.
Who can see your data
Your plan, answers and vault map are visible only to you, enforced in the database. Sean, as the program's operator, can see member progress (for example, which steps are complete) to provide accountability.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections, and access to your records is restricted to your own account at the database level. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you of a breach as required by law.
Retention and your choices
We keep your data while your account is active. You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data at any time by emailing sean@thelegacydad.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
The Legacy Dad is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
